Dillon, Colo. – Sept. 20, 2017 - Firefighters made good progress on the Tenderfoot 2 Fire east of Dillon yesterday and are reporting 50 percent containment. Incident Commander Eric White, of the Upper Colorado River Fire Management Unit, reported at Wednesday morning’s briefing that crews were successful in holding the fire to the existing footprint, with no growth during the day, despite windy conditions with gusts up to 50 mph.

The Town of Dillon found elevated levels of lead in the drinking water of some area homes and buildings while conducting annual lead and copper testing. Results from an October 2016 sample produced four of 20 samples with lead concentrations above the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) action level of 15 parts per billion.

The High Country Conservation Center (HC3) is moving its office from Frisco to Dillon on Monday, October 31st. The organization best known for promoting resource conservation in Summit County and for their focus on: recycling, composting, energy conservation, environmental education, water conservation, sustainable food programs and community gardens is moving into the Old Dillon Town Hall.

Due to significant spring snowfall, the Towns of Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne have cancelled their Town Clean Up Days on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The Town of Frisco is rescheduling its Town Clean Up Day to Sunday, June 4, 2017, and Summit County will still be offering free electronics, pharmaceutical and household hazardous waste disposal on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
