Dillon Colorado is more than just a summer destination with easy access to seven major ski resorts and plenty of winter activities right in town, it's the perfect base camp for the winter adventurer.

Enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and ice fishing right off the shores of the Dillon Marina. Relax with a quiet stroll through downtown Dillon's winter wonderland, especially in December, amid the sparkle and glow of thousands of holiday lights.

Sitting on the shores of Lake Dillon, the town offers awe-inspiring views of the Gore and Ten Mile Mountain ranges and is only a one hour and fifteen-minute drive to downtown Denver and one and a half hours from the Denver International Airport.

Ice Fishing

Dillon Reservoir is a prime location for summer or winter fishing. The lake is home to Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Kokanee Salmon and Arctic Char. With 26 miles of shoreline, finding a nice secluded spot to cast is not a problem.

As soon as the Dillon Reservoir begins to freeze the Town of Dillon becomes a mecca for ice fishing. A fishing charter is a great way to get introduced to ice fishing. Alpine Fishing Adventures, Big Ed's Fishing Ventures and Silver Flask Fishing all offer charters beginning mid-November.

If you are looking to venture out on your own, remember that any person 15 years or older must have a valid fishing license. View the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Fishing Guide for info regarding getting or renewing your Fishing License, bag and possession limits, to check the essential gear guide and to get other helpful information.

Please do not drill holes within 15 feet of the multi-use track.

Hiking, Snowshoeing and Nordic Skiing

Dillon and the surrounding areas offer a wonderful system of trails that can be utilized all year round. Whether you are an avid winter adventurer or just getting started there is something for everyone in Dillon.

Check out our newest winter amenity the Lake Loops, a groomed winter multi-use track located on the frozen Dillon Reservoir. The Lake Loops are great for beginners, family outings and offer stunning views of the surrounding Ten Mile and Gore Ranges.

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of this year's Dillon Dog Sled Race. We are at mercy to the elements and unfortunately the ice is not in a condition to where we feel safe for our racers and spectators. We understand the disappointment, recognizing the unique excitement this race brings to our mushers and the local community.

To our generous sponsors, your support for our club is so appreciated, and we will be reaching out to you directly to discuss the way forward.

On a brighter note, we're grateful that the new North Park Snow Dog Race is still on track for March 9-10 at State Forest State Park. We hope to see you there!
