As many of you know, we’ve been paying tribute to the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers all over this great country for the last 8 years. This week, we all suffered a major heartbreak when we lost one of the most prolific and brilliant singer-songwriters this world has ever known. Yes, I know we’re biased. But when you have ten number 1 hits, and 28 top 10 hits (at least as of today) it’s pretty tough to argue with those numbers.
First and foremost, we want to send out our heartfelt condolences to Tom Petty’s family, bandmates, friends, and fans. Myself and my bandmates were devastated when we learned the news on Monday and are still numb as we mourn this loss. We are humbled by the number of messages we received expressing condolences and encouragement to continue to pay him tribute and to keep his music alive. And we certainly intend to do just that for as long as we are blessed with the ability to do so. We would like to invite all fans to come and celebrate the life and music of Tom Petty.
