Regular Municipal Election
April 1, 2014


At the April 1, 2014 regular municipal election, persons registered as of March 3 will have the opportunity to vote for Mayor and three (3) Town Council Members. The candidate receiving the most votes for Mayor will serve a four-year term and the three (3) candidates receiving the most votes for Council Member will each serve a four-year term commencing on the first regular council meeting following the election. Dillon’s Town Council meets each first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Work sessions are held the same days that Council meets at 4:30 p.m., and as needed. Meetings are held at the Dillon Town Hall.

Voter Registration
Eligible voters in Town elections are registered electors who live within Dillon town limits. For those who are not already registered to vote, the deadline to register is Monday, March 3. To register to vote or verify/change your registration go to www.govotecolorado.com or call Summit County Elections (970) 453-3479. Colorado Voter Registration forms will also be available at Dillon Town Hall.

Polling Place
Polls will open at 7:00 a.m. on Election Day and close at 7:00 p.m. The polling place is Dillon Town Hall located at 275 Lake Dillon Drive, Dillon, Colorado. Voters may request an Application for Absentee Voter Ballot no later than Friday, March 28.

Eligibility to Hold Municipal Office
Persons wishing to run for municipal office must meet the following criteria:

• Shall be at least 18 years old;
• Shall be a citizen of the United States;
• Shall be a registered elector of the Town of Dillon at the time of nomination and election;
• Shall be a resident of Dillon for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election;
• Shall maintain residence throughout the term of office;
• Shall not have been convicted of embezzlement, bribery, perjury, solicitation of bribery, subordination of perjury or a crime of moral turpitude;
• Shall not be a salaried employee of the Town during term of office.

Nomination Petitions
Municipal candidates are all nominated by petition. Nomination petitions may be circulated beginning on Monday, February 10 and must be filed in the Town Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28. Nomination petitions for Council candidates must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) registered electors residing in Dillon. Petitions are obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office.
