From the Helm- March 2017

Ahoy Mates,

We are quickly moving toward springtime in the Rockies.  The marina staff has been extremely busy working on winter projects and work orders, ordering materials, shop and retail supplies, creating new online booking features, obtaining engine certifications, and interviewing for new crew members for the 2017 season.

Reservoir levels are heading down as the Blue River Basin snowpack is above 100% snowpack so Denver Water is making room for the spring runoff.  The current level is 9004.24’ or 12.76’ down.  www.denverwater.org/supplyplanning/watersupply/reservoirlevels/

Speaking of certifications, I will be attending a week long Evinrude Outboard Motor certification class in Sturtevant, Wisconsin in early April to maintain our Evinrude/Johnson Service-only dealership. In addition, we’ve just recently hired a new mechanic, Philip Mancuso, and he, along with Craig Simson, our Operations Manager, will be attending a diesel maintenance course this month.

As mentioned earlier in the Buzz, we have created several important lead staff positions that we feel will allow us to provide a higher level of service for all.  First off, Phillip Bretschneider, returning for his 5th season, will be assuming the role of Operations Technician. Karlee Ferris, back for her 2nd season, has moved up as our Administrative Office Lead, while Paul Zylstra, also returning for his 2nd season, has assumed the position of Rental Dock and ANS Ramp Lead. We have also created the position of Sailing School Lead and Dave Cope, here since dinosaurs roamed the earth, has graciously accepted to head up that department. And last but not least, as mentioned above, Philip Mancusco has joined the marina team as our new Service Technician / Mechanic.  If you didn’t notice, that’s a lot of Philips working at the marina this season! So, basically, if you need anything, just shout “Hey Phil!” and someone is bound to answer.

Or, please send an email or call us here at the marina.  philhofer@dillonmarina.com or call (970) 468-5100 x103.
