Dillon Marina Sailing School
Beginner - Intermediate - Private Lessons Available

The sailing school at the Dillon Marina is a certified American Sailing Association (ASA) training facility. We have a friendly and knowledgable staff who's love of sailing is sure to inspire even the novice sailor.

You must be at least 21 years of age to participate. Youth sailing lessons are offered through the Dillon Yacht Club. They can be reached at 970.262.5824 or at www.dillonyachtclub.com

Sailing Courses & Lessons  

Sailing ImageCOURSES:

Basic Keelboat (BKB) Course: $275/person

Preparation for the American Sailing Association certification process. Hands on experience with sailboat. ASA textbook is required, sold at the marina store for $21. 95

Group sessions- (12-hour class) Taught in two 6 hour blocks over consecutive days of the weekend, from 11am - 5 pm. Class size varies from 3 to 6 people. Call to reserve your space as classes fill up quickly.

Semi-private sessions- (8-hour class) Taught during the week and on weekends if there are no group classes already booked. Call to book reservation time.

ASA BKB Certification Exam: $110/person

You will need to schedule 2 hours to take the exam. Half the time will be devoted to the written part and the other half will be spent on the water for the practical portion. Coursework is done at home. The exam will require one hour and is only written.

LESSONS/TOURS:

Private Lessons $60/hour, 2 hour minimum. (One person only- no guests)

Semi-Private Lessons $40.00/hour/person, 2 hour minimum

The private and semi-private sessions can incorporate everything from basic sailing for the novice to brush-ups and sailing varying winds/weather conditions for more advanced sailors.

Sailing Tour $50/person/2-hour tour, 2 person minimum

The "Sailing Experience" is a 2-hour sail on Lake Dillon. You must be at least 12 years old to participate. Tours are offered for 2 - 6 people per boat. Tours are scheduled on weekdays or before/after scheduled sailing school on the weekend. Call to book reservation.

Captain on Board $60 per hour, in addition to boat rental amount

Dillon Marina Team Building Program Come out for a great team bonding experience in a challenging, safe environment. Let our experienced American Sailing Association-certified instructors lead your team in a day of specialized sailing instruction on scenic Lake Dillon. Your group will learn to sail our fleet of 22-foot Capri’s from the ground up. Team skills such as navigation, reading the wind and executing tacks and jibes will engage your entire staff. We can prepare a learning experience custom-tailored to your group’s goals for a day your employees will be talking about for years. Single Day Program • $125.00 per person • One 4-hour session • 2-5 individuals per group • Participants must be 21 years of age to participate • Maximum of 20 participants for each program Two Day Program • $250.00 per person • Two 4-hour sessions (total of 4 hours each day) • 2-5 individuals per group • Participants must be 21 years of age to participate • Maximum of 20 participants for each program American Sailing Association (ASA) certified sailing instructors will guide participants from the basics to team dynamics with strong emphasis on developing leadership and confidence by rotating team members through different crew positions on the vessel. On the second day of the two-day format, teams will sail on their own in one of the marina’s boats, following a course set by the instructor. Working together, the groups will navigate the course & accomplish different tasks along the way. Team work, boating safety and having fun will be essential for success.
